Ayurveda- the 5,000 year old ancient vedic system of healing- translates to “the science of life.” To practice Ayurveda, to live Ayurveda, means living in harmony with the rhythms of nature. Many healing modalities known in the West such as Homeopathy and Polarity Therapy, are rooted in Ayurvedic traditions which promote balance and harmony within the body, mind and senses. Ayurveda aims to facilitate healing through empowering individuals with knowledge about ways to achieve optimal health through diet and lifestyle.
The Doshas: Biological Humors
Vata + Pitta + Kapha
Our entire planet and all that exists within it are made up of five elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Combined, these elements make up the Ayurvedic Doshas- vata, pitta and kapha- biological humors that are constantly out of balance. The goal of Ayurveda and yoga is to create balance and harmony within the body, mind, and senses.
